We had an amazing time at Hooke Court, learning lots of new skills, having amazing adventures, exploring the habitats and making new friends.

Lyme Regis Trip – June 2015

Hedgehog class visited Lyme Regis to learn about local smugglers, create some beach art and show their talents at water colour painting.

Jackson Pollack

Hedgehog class really enjoyed painting in the style of Jackson Pollack. They used the paint brushes to flick, swirl and drip paint to complete their volcano pictures. To see some of the finished examples come and have a look in Hedgehog’s cloakroom.

Plant Detectives

To start our science topic of Plants hedgehog class went outside to explore the different types of plants around the school. They were amazed to find so many different varieties of plant in the garden, field and around the school.

Circus Skills

When hedgehog class had their circus skills workshop the children learnt how to spin plates. There were races to pass the spinning plate, challenges to lie on your back holding a spinning plate and to spin their plate on their finger.


The task was to compose a piece of music to tell a Roman story. The children created music to tell stories about Roman gladiators, soldiers marching into battle and home life.

Roman Day March 2015………..

The children experienced life as a Roman Soldier. They drilled, thrilled and enlightened.  They saw replica and original Roman artifacts which brought their project to life.
