Our Teaching Staff Profiles

Mrs Clare Rinaldi BEd(Hons)- Head of School
Mrs Clare Rinaldi - Head of teaching and Learning
I started my teaching career in Weymouth in 1995 after completing my degree at Bishop Otter College. I then taught at Mrs Ethelston’s Primary School in Uplyme for 14 years teaching mainly in years 5 and 6. My last post was at Colyton Primary School where I was supporting SENCO and year 4/5 teacher. I thoroughly enjoy the teaching element of my past and present role; watching the children grow both in terms of knowledge, understanding and maturity. I firmly believe in the ethos of small schools, the development of the whole individual to thrive in a supportive atmosphere. In my spare time away from school I enjoy travelling, reading and music.
Mrs Jane Bromley BA(Hons) PGCE- Hedgehog Class Teacher
Jane Bromley
Following a degree in History and Politics, I completed a PGCE at Rolle College.  I began teaching at Shute in 2002, teaching Year 2 upwards and I am now really enjoying teaching in Hedgehog Class.  I am an ‘all rounder’ and have a particular interest in folk music and dance.  I direct and choreograph the annual Maypole dance at Shute, a highlight of the school calendar.
Mr Mark Gundry PGCE QTS- Badger Class Teacher
Having completed a degree in graphic design and web design I ventured into the world of advertising and then professional real tennis. Following this I completed my PGCE (with QTS) and spent an academic year working in a British curriculum school in Nigeria before returning to work in the UK. My hobbies include: music production and computing.
Miss Sophie PercivalFox Class Teacher
I started working at Shute in January 2014, teaching Year 3 and 4 children. Before this post, I was studying for my teaching degree at the University of St Mark and St John. Alongside my studies, each weekend I would work as the lead coach at my local gymnastics club, where I taught gymnastics to children aged from 4 upwards.
I have a keen interest in making learning active and fun. Away from school I enjoy baking cakes, going on long walks along the beach and when there is time carrying on with my own gymnastics training!
Mrs Sophy Burleigh BA (Hons) PGCE- Hedgehog Class Teacher
Having attended a German School in Italy, I went on to study Modern Languages at University and then qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 1989. After many years working full-time in East Dorset, I moved to West Dorset and having worked as a supply teacher in all of the classes at Shute,
I also teach Modern Languages in two other local Primary Schools. I love singing, music and craft activities, and my husband and I run a small small-holding.
Mrs Gilly Clark BA (QTS) - The Holt  Foundation Stage Teacher
I have been teaching children in the Foundation Stage since 2003, and specialised in Early Childhood Education during my teaching degree. I am passionate about outdoor learning and love exploring the world around us. I believe that young children should be given the opportunities to learn and explore through an exciting play based curriculum that inspires their imagination and ignites their curiosity.
Out of school I enjoy camping trips with my family and friends, and spending lazy days on the beach!
